Antonio Delgado wrote Illuminatio:Yo Soy in 2004 with his acting company, Caja Negra. He is a key collaborator in this project to produce Illuminatio in Seattle. Meanwhile, he continues to produce theater in Spain, on a small scale according to the means available. He has re-formed Caja Negra in Andújar and has been performing a series of ‘microteatros’, which are condensed theatre performances, gaining popularity now in Spain, for their affordability and accessibility. Here are some examples of his recent work:
I am pleased to announce the collaborators who have contributed to this weekend’s performance of Illuminatio:Creation. It is a wonder to me how Antonio’s vision has inspired so many to pour their creativity into making this show, starting with myself. The process began so slowly and simply with four of us in the studio listening to our heartbeats and many conversations online with Antonio. Slowly building up the website with Jon.
However, it seems like the project’s power of attraction has multiplied as it has solidified more and more into a definitive shape. And now, we are blessed with the creative contributions of lighting designer, Francesca Carroll, composers Andrei Stomma and Stella Scott, fight choreographer Pam Cooper, lighting consultant Alex Belden, videographer Laura James and five new cast members – Daniel Arteaga, Eileen Van Bronkhorst, Simon Grant, Rosemary Carroll and Constanze Villines.
Michelle Froehlich and Michele McCauley, along with Stella Scott, have been part of The Illuminatio Project since 2013, and all three appeared in Illuminatio:Slavery of the System in 2013. Joining us for this performance of Illuminatio:Creation, we welcome Daniel Arteaga in the role of The Human. (insert bio) We also welcome Eileen Van Bronkhorst in her acting debut as Reason. (insert bio) We are very fortunate to have Simon Grant in our cast as The Son. (insert bio) And we welcome Constanze Villines and Rosemary Carroll, who are joining the Chorus. They both jumped in so enthusiastically to the dance, it is as if they were always part of it. (insert 2 bios here) I stand in gratitude and wonder to be a part of the creative energy that is this show. That is what I hope to share with you, if you will come.
We are performing Illuminatio:Creation on November 7th and 8th in a small venue in Seattle called Theatre 4 (located in Seattle Center in the building called the Armory) Tickets are pay-what-you-can. You can get them at the door or at this link:
Hope to see you there.
Seeking performing artists for upcoming Fall performance.
The roles include pantomime, dance, creative movement, some playing of instruments, a little stage combat, and a small amount of speaking. It is most important that you have an interest in what we are doing, availability to rehearse at least once a week, and an openness to undertaking a journey of self-discovery.
I regret that I cannot promise a set stipend at this moment. I can only promise that all the proceeds from the show will go to the participating artists. Send an e-mail to theilluminatioproject(at)yahoo(dot)com or send us a Facebook message atfacebook.com/theilluminatioproject if you are interested.
